There’s no shortage of festive supermarket jobs looking to be filled this year (Picture: metro.co.uk)

However much you may be in denial about it, Christmas is only a matter of weeks away – meaning that the retail season is about to get busy.

It’s common at this time of year for the big supermarket chains and other stores to take on seasonal staff as folks flock to the shops to stock up for the big day.

All of which can be a great opportunity – albeit temporary – for those seeking work, as well as those who want to earn some extra money but are unable to commit to a full-time job – such as students, for example.

Several of the big supermarket chains are already advertising for these positions – but who has vacancies this year, how much can you earn and how can you apply?

Here’s what you need to know…

Aldi

Aldi is hiring more than 3,000 temporary workers over the festive period – its biggest ever seasonal recruitment drive.

Jobs include store assistants, managerial positions, and cleaners in-store – while they are also looking for warehouse selectors and cleaners at their Regional Distribution Centres.

Hours will vary depending on location and the nature of the job – although shift patterns can include 6am-2pm, or 2-10pm.
