Boris Johnson is set to join GB News as a ‘presenter, programme maker and commentator’, the channel has announced.
The former prime minister will start his new role in 2024 and ‘play a key role’ in its coverage of the UK general election and US elections next year.
Mr Johnson became the first PM in British history to be convicted of breaking the law and was issued with a fixed penalty notice in April 2022 over the Partygate scandal.
The 59-year-old resigned as the Conservative Party leader last year following a mass revolt by ministers and later stepped down from his role as Uxbridge and Ruislip MP in June 2023.
But now he has landed a new role with the TV station and said he is ‘excited’ to start in a short video he shared online.
He said: ‘I’m going to be giving this remarkable new TV channel my unvarnished views on everything from Russia, China, the war in Ukraine, how we meet all those challenges, to the huge opportunities that lie ahead for us.
‘Why I think our best days are yet to come and why – on the whole – the people of the world want to see more global Britain, not less. So join me on GB News for some great British television.’

Editorial director Michael Booker told the GB News website: ‘I’m delighted to say, GB News has got Boris “done”!
‘We are tremendously proud to have him join the GB News family, particularly as we head into a seismic year of politics both here and across the Atlantic.
‘Boris has been the most influential Prime Minister of our generation, and his unique insight into domestic and world affairs will be a smash hit with our viewers and listeners.
‘As well as his political skills, he’s an incredibly talented journalist and author, so we can’t wait to start working with him on what will be must-see TV.’

GB News has been in the spotlight in recent weeks after Laurence Fox was sacked following a string of remarks about journalist Ava Evans.
He was later arrested accused of causing criminal damage to ULEZ cameras and had his home searched by police.
There was also outrage earlier this month after the channel was showered with praise at the Tory party conference despite ongoing controversies.
Ofcom received more than 7,000 complaints after Mr Fox made derogatory comments about Ms Evans on Dan Wootton’s show, with the host smirking and laughing in response.
