These screenshots come courtesy of a little “birdie” that has access to the parts catalog and were corroborated by some inside sources. The main screenshot gives us the name of the engine and transmission and a few codes that help us decipher what to expect.
The engine description says, “LT7- Engine Gas, 8 Cyl, 5.5L, DI, VVT, AFM, SC Turbo, DOHC.” The obvious parts tell us this is a turbocharged 5.5 liter V8, but we also know it will have direct injection (DI), variable valve timing (VVT), and dual overhead cams (DOHC) as well.
“AFM” stands for active fuel management, and many were surprised that Chevy would implement such technology since the LT6 doesn’t feature this.. Alas, a user with insider connections on the forum says this is most likely a mistake.
