Mayor Eric Adams appeared on screen as himself in a Turkish rom-com — in which he is asked for political favors by two men speaking Turkish — years before his office became embroiled in a probe over potential bribes from the country.
Video of the bizarre guest cameo was shared online as the feds investigate if any money was illegally funneled into Adams’ 2021 mayoral campaign from the Turkish government.
The clip, taken from the 2017 romantic comedy New York Masali (Fairytale of New York), features Adams, playing himself, being asked for favors by two characters who are speaking Turkish.
In the brief scene, one of the characters tells Adams he wants to add a floor to his home, while the other is trying to obtain a permit to open a restaurant, New York Magazine reported.

The then-Brooklyn borough president recognizes that the men are from Turkey, but tells them he doesn’t speak Turkish.
“Brooklyn loves Turkey. Brooklyn is the Istanbul of America. We love your food, we love your music, but I don’t understand Turkish,” Adams says in the clip.
“We can take a selfie though,” he adds before the group takes a quick snapshot and the two thank him.

The clip of Adams’ odd foray into acting, which was also shared on X by Politico’s New York City reporter Jeff Coltin, comes as federal authorities investigate whether his 2021 mayoral campaign received illegal donations from Turkey.
Last week, the home of one of Adams’ top fundraisers Brianna Suggs was raided by the feds as they probe into potential public corruption. Investigators sought evidence of whether Adams’ campaign conspired with the Turkish government and a Williamsburg-based construction company to move foreign cash into his campaign accounts by using straw donors.
Federal agents raided the home of top Adams fundraiser Brianna Suggs.
A straw donor is a person or company who illegally makes a donation with someone else’s money – but uses their own name.
The feds’ warrant said agents were looking for evidence of the theft of federal funds, wire fraud, conspiracy to steal federal funds and wire fraud conspiracy.
Investigators were looking for proof that the campaign kicked back benefits to principals and employees of KSK Construction Group – as well as Turkish officials.

Neither Suggs – whose firm has earned more than $150,000 from the mayor’s campaign team since 2021 – nor Adams have been arrested or charged with a crime.
Campaign finance records show that 11 KSK employees all made donations to Adams’ campaign on the same day in 2021 and for nearly identical amounts — including a worker who has said he doesn’t recall making his listed $1,250 amount.
The donations totaled nearly $14,000.
Adams canceled his trip to Washington DC after news of the raid broke Thursday.
Meanwhile, Hizzoner denied any knowledge about the construction firm at the center of the probe, saying in an interview Sunday, “I am not familiar with this organization at all … It’s one of the many different groups and organizations that contributes to the campaign.
Despite his efforts to minimize the raid and its fallout, Adams took the news seriously enough that he abruptly bailed on a slate of meetings with White House officials when news of the raid broke Thursday.
Adams has repeatedly boasted of his ties to Turkey and crowed that no other New York City mayor has visited the country as frequently as he has.
Law-enforcement sources told The Post that the feds had waited for Adams to be out of town before they busted into Suggs’ Crown Heights brownstone.
But Adams quickly returned to the Big Apple, abandoning the much-sought-after meeting with Biden administration officials and other big-city mayors over the country’s burgeoning migrant crisis.
“I was notified by our team that something was taking place with the campaign staffer, and I wanted to be here to make sure of that we fully complied,” Adams said.
“I have one of the best compliance teams that any campaign has ever put together.”
