Lucid Gives In To Tesla’s Supercharger Dominance And Adopts The NACS Plug

Rawlinson previously expressed concerns about the dominance of NACS connectors but didn’t rule out adopting them for its EVs. However, the former Tesla engineer for the Model S had several reservations in terms of SAE standardization, access to consumer data, and charging schedule.

“What matters is that there is a standard that everyone can use, that it’s an open standard, and given there is taxpayer money involved, that it’s future-proof and reliable,” said Rawlinson in his Bloomberg interview.

It seems Rawlinson has already made peace with his reservations, given the recent development. As the company has put it, “Lucid remains committed to enhancing the charging experience for its customers and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles.”
