Mad Max Nissan 280ZX Is A Purist’s Nightmare

The dashboard is the only remaining stock component. The rest of the cabin has a metal finish, matching the vehicle’s exterior. Fitting the ’80s look of the car, Rea customized old Japanese bucket seats with white trimmings and even found a pair of white Willans seat belts to match. The floor also has aluminum paneling to go with the overall theme.

Under the hood, the 280ZX still has its stock, naturally aspirated L Series inline-six engine and factory transmission. However, the engine bay has been reworked with more aluminum components and strut bars. Even the shroud for the radiator fan has been reworked to fit the theme while aiding in cooling. The 280ZX also has an air suspension setup with its compressors hidden behind a unique metal panel, while the air tank sits in the middle of the vehicle, finished in white.

The resulting build is a cross between Mad Max and Cyberpunk 2077 themes, a worthy adversary to the futuristic Miata we featured not long ago. The fact that it’s homebuilt just makes it even cooler.
