Next-Gen BMW M135i Shows Its Z4-Like Headlights

Looking at the overall design, the placement of the doors, and the rear end, it appears this might be the first truly attractive BMW hatchback. The first and, to a lesser degree, second-gen models were design disasters (not including the coupe and cabriolet). The third-gen became a little more palatable when it moved over to a front-wheel-drive platform shared with Mini, but it was still no beauty queen. And it was generic; can this one avoid such dullness?

The upcoming 1 Series appears to be a classic hatchback, and like any good vehicle of its kind, it needs a go-faster version to compete with the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and the Audi RS3.

This M135i will likely get the same turbocharged four-cylinder used in the BMW X1 M35i and its more premium sibling, the recently unveiled X2 M35i.
