Teacher who eloped with 15-year-old ‘working as baker’ after prison release

A teacher who ran off with one of his students has reinvented himself as a baker-cum-rockband-frontman after being released from prison. 

Jeremy Forrest, 40, made headlines back in 2012 after leaving his wife to elope to France with a 15-year-old schoolgirl, sparking an international manhunt. 

After his release from prison, where he served three years of a five-and-a-half year sentence for child sex and abduction, Forrest has started a new life as a baker by day and musician by night, according to The Sun.

Forrest, who is originally from Aberdeenshire, has also remarried and now goes by the name Jeremy Buonocore. 

After going on the run with his underage student, Forrest was eventually apprehended in Bordeaux, after an employee at a bar where he’d applied for a new job handed his CV in to the police. 

In a surprising turn, the student initially said she would remain by Forrest’s side after Lewes Crown Court sentenced him for child abduction and five counts of sexual activity with a minor. 

However, it was later reported in 2013 that with the pair banned from communicating with one another, she had begun a new relationship with someone her own age.

Forrest’s bio on the artisanal bakery where he now works reportedly makes no mention of his previous life as a teacher.

According to The Sun, it states: ‘(Jeremy) is proudly a 5th generation baker, learning everything he knows from the experienced bakers that have passed down their tried and tested methods.

‘He was promoted to Head Baker, thanks to his extraordinary passion for sourdough, hard work and commitment.

‘He never stops learning about the process, care and attention that goes into making the perfect loaf. 

‘Jeremy loves his dogs and a sing-song – he plays guitar and lead vocals in a band that regularly gigs.’
