The man accused of stabbing two university students and a school caretaker to death in Nottingham has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Valdo Calocane, 32, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday where he entered guilty pleas to the lesser charge on manslaughter over the deaths of Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates on June 13 this year.

Those pleas were entered on the basis of diminished responsibility, his barrister Peter Joyce KC told the court.

He also admitted the attempted murders of three other people in a spate of attacks on the same day.
