Full-Size SUV Comparison: 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe Vs. Toyota Sequoia

The 2025 Tahoe will be available with three engine options. A 5.3-liter V8 will serve as the base engine in the LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier trims, while the High Country gains the 6.2-liter V8. There has been no mention of power upgrades, so we assume these engines will carry over with the same outputs.

As a reminder, the 5.3-liter produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, while the larger displacement V8 makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Importantly, the 3.0-liter diesel engine has been substantially upgraded and now delivers 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. The 6.2-liter V8 and diesel can be equipped on lesser models at extra cost.

In comparison, the Toyota has just one engine, but it’s a good one. The twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter i-Force MAX V6 engine is more powerful than all the Tahoe’s engines, with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft on tap. Both vehicles send power to the driven wheels via a ten-speed automatic transmission. Rear- or four-wheel drive is available, depending on the chosen model.
