The future of the NEVS Emily GT, an all-electric luxury sedan developed by former Saab engineers, has been in the air for some time, but a new company will bring the Emily GT to fruition.

Canadian startup EV Electra has stepped in to save the Emily GT, having purchased the rights to the project from National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS). EV Electra now owns the rights to the Emily GT and Pons, another electric concept.

While the Emily GT isn’t a Saab, many have touted it as a spiritual successor to the 9-5 executive sedan. Saab fanatics and Swedish locals will be pleased to know EV Electra intends to build Emily GT in the old Trollhattan plant, which birthed Saabs for many years.

“The future looks promising as we integrate these projects into our portfolio, contributing to the growth of the Swedish automotive industry and expanding our global footprint,” said EV Electra CEO Jihad Mohammad.
