The Model X, for example, now starts at $79,990, which makes it eligible for the $7,500 EV tax credit incentive. Add the additional $1,000 discount into the mix, and theoretically, the large SUV becomes a $71,490 vehicle – a considerable discount when considering the MY2022 price tag of $120,990.
It may not be this year’s “must-have” electric car, like the Cybertruck, but impatient reservation holders may take the plunge, especially now that Tesla has dangled a carrot in front of them. Just how effective this is remains to be seen, but we feel Tesla sales will benefit from this strategy.
As a reminder, the Tesla Cybertruck will start from $60,990, with the most potent model offering up to 845 horsepower (with a tri-motor configuration). The range is pegged at 340 miles, but 130 miles can be gained if you specify the range-extender option.
