Classic Mini Aims To Set Bizarre Beer-Related Altitude Record

To mark the 60th anniversary of the Mini Cooper, adventurer Ben Coombs has decided to do something special with the car, taking the vintage car nearly 20,000 feet above sea level.

Coombs is an experienced road-tripper with multiple adventures. He’s driven the length of the Americas in a TVR and crossed Africa in a Porsche, so he knows what kind of adversity to expect.

For the Mini Cooper adventure, he plans on beating his initial record set with a TVR Chimaera, which he brought to an altitude of 15,420 feet on the Bolivian Altiplano. He hopes to find a road to reach his ambitious goal for the small car, but as the accessories show, he’s ready to go off the beaten path, too.
