IF you have ever wanted to explore the depths of the ocean in the sort of luxury James Bond could only dream about, now’s your chance – turns out all you need is a couple billion dollars.
Boat company Migaloo has revolutionised the world of superyachts with their very own, world-first submersible superyacht.

They are offering a gigantic 928ft vessel that contains a helipad for the helicopter it has on-board, as well as a swimming pool, movie theatre, wine cellar, library and much, much more.
For comparison, the British Royal Navy’s leading submarine, HMS Astute, seems small at only 318ft.
Although the private superyacht submarines obviously aren’t allowed to fire nuclear missiles, they are capable of everything else its military counterpart can do.
In fact, Migaloo’s submarines are actually faster than the HMS Astute – they can cruise at speeds of 40 Knots when submerged, where the Royal Navy‘s pride and joy travels at a mere 30 Knots.
Migaloo submarines can also dive to 1500ft, and are capable of staying there for several weeks at a time – while the HMS Astute can only reach a depth of 984ft.
The submarines also have room on-board for several jet-skis, two 52ft long, six person mini-submarines, the aforementioned helicopter, and multiple under-water viewing rooms.
It features a 36-seat dining room with glass walls that allows guests to be fully submerged in the underwater world as they eat.
Migaloo boasts an impressive 6889 square ft private living quarters for the owner, as well as 3280 square ft of reception areas and 1312 square ft of guest accommodation.
The founder and CEO of Migaloo, Christian Gumpold revealed that these superyacht submarines could cost an owner upwards of $2billion.
“We think a private submarine will be the most exclusive and most expensive thing a person can own,” he told The Sun Online.
“We are the only company worldwide which offer superyacht-sized private submarines.”
He said superyacht owners are increasingly “getting younger” and “they want even more extra ordinary and individual designs”.
“They are willing to have something really new and unique, which has never been designed or constructed before – a ‘normal’ surface yacht is not that interesting for them – a private submarine is.
“We have a very deep knowledge of the yachting industry and understanding of ultra high net worth individuals as well as billionaires.
“We strongly notice trends and in our opinion submersible superyachts are the future of yachting.”
Gumpold said the private submarine adds a whole new dimension to exploring the sea.
“Of course we think our private submarines are a lot of fun,” he said.
“Yachts are limited in terms of features, design and possibilities for entertaining or exploring.
“A submarine offers a whole new lifestyle travelling or staying underwater and explore new worlds or show off to friends or family.
“Travelling in rough seas is possible – simply submerge and travel safe and sound below the waterline.”
The company has also launched its own floating islands – which can travel at up to nine miles per hour.
Migaloo call this product the Kokomo Ailand: a beach club, living quarters and boat all rolled into one eye-wateringly expensive package.
The island has ten suites on board as well as a penthouse, and it costs €300 million (£267m).
They can be up to 383 feet long, but both the size and design can differ depending on what the owner is after.
For example, it could contain a beach club, palm trees, infinity pools, waterfalls, complete with a helipad and outdoor cinema. But you could also opt for a slightly more intense “shark-feeding elevator”.
Christian Grumpold told the Huffington Post: “Living on and with the sea will be a future mega trend.
“The island can be a first step to adapt to this new way of living.”
Christian has also previously revealed to Bloomberg that the islands they were among “the most expensive private objects worldwide”.
