Christmas Eve is Sunday, December 24. And while Sundays aren’t typically the hardest nights to grab reservations, the holiday is changing things up, with plenty of top restaurants already fully booked. If you procrastinated, have a change of plans or just want to leave the cooking (and cleaning) to the pros, there are still plenty of great options to dine out in New York City this Christmas Eve. Chef Hillary Sterling’s Italian restaurant in Midtown is often fully booked, but spots are still available for a Feast of the Seven Fishes, served family style, with the option of a Feast of the Seven Vegetables for all vegetarians. Dishes for the $168-per-person feast include marinated squid, whipped smoked fish, spaghetti with anchovies and breadcrumbs, and baccala. Head to Flatiron for a creative contemporary Korean dining experience with New York vibes. A special 7-course tasting menu will go for $245 per person. The iconic Manhattan restaurant will be hosting their Second Annual Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes, inspired by Chef Lena Ciardullo and her fellow team members’ Christmas Eve traditions and family recipes. Highlights of the $195 prix fixe will include an Ossetra caviar course (served with potato focaccia, duck fat tater tots, and crème fraiche), Caesar salad with bottarga, bluefin tuna crudo, calamari fritti, lobster fra diavolo and jumbo shrimp scampi. Just blocks from the Rockefeller Tree, Sea Fire Grill will celebrate Christmas Eve with a contemporary spin on the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes for $149 per person. Begin with a choice of starter: a lavish crudo assortment featuring Scottish salmon, yellowfin tuna, scallops, and Caviar or oysters elevated with a touch of caviar. Followed by the second course of squid ink spaghetti with fresh Maine lobster and crab meat. For the main course, choose from three options: the elegantly roasted Mediterranean branzino with caper sauce and asparagus, roasted Nova Scotia halibut with lemon gnocchi, fava beans, kale chimichurri, and beurre blanc or blackened Montauk swordfish.
