Young school teacher found dead inside trunk of burned car

The body of a young school teacher from California was found inside the trunk of a burned-out car after a fire at her boyfriend’s house Wednesday, according to authorities, the woman’s family and neighbors.

The gruesome discovery was made after 8:30 am when firefighters were called to put out a blaze inside a garage in the Los Angeles suburb of Quartz Hill.

By the time the first responders arrived at the address on 38th Street West, the flames had incinerated several cars, one of which was found to contain a woman’s body in the trunk.

Neighbors reported hearing a woman screaming and what sounded like an explosion just before the fire ignited, reported the station KCAL.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has launched an arson and homicide investigation in connection with the woman’s death but has not disclosed any other information, including the victim’s name.

A man who spoke to KCAL revealed that the woman in the trunk was his 27-year-niece who lived in Quartz Hill and taught at an elementary school in Palmdale.

The uncle declined to name his slain loved one but described her as a kind-hearted and quiet woman. He said his family were devastated after learning of her death.

The teacher had been in a relationship with a man for about a year, but the uncle did not know much about him.

A man said the woman in the trunk was his niece who worked as a teacher at an elementary school.

Neighbors said the woman’s boyfriend owns the home on 38th Street West and rents out rooms to several tenants.

Investigators said they were trying to locate the unidentified homeowner who had yet to reach out to them.
