Andrew Tate requests return to UK after mother suffers heart attack

Andrew Tate, the controversial influencer who is being held in Romania ahead of a trial on rape and human trafficking charges, may be about to return – briefly – to the UK.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the self-proclaimed misogynist said he was planning to request ‘an emergency visit to London’ to visit his mother in hospital after she had a heart attack.

Neither he nor his brother Tristan are permitted to leave Romania, where they also face charges of forming a criminal gang.

The pair were under house arrest until a court in Bucharest relaxed geographical restrictions earlier this year – but they are still required to stay within the country.

Both deny all allegations of abuse and trafficking, with Andrew Tate claiming prosecutors have no evidence and are part of a conspiracy to silence him.

In his social media post, he wrote: ‘My mother has had a heart attack and is in hospital.

‘I am going to court tomorrow to request an emergency visit to London.’

The Tate brothers were initially arrested in December last year, and were held in custody until being released under house arrest in March.

Prosecutors allege they have tricked women into sexual exploitation on fake promises of a relationship or marriage before being subjecting them to sexual exploitation and physical violence.

A statement released in June accused them of taking victims to a building in Ilfov county in Romania where they were intimidated, placed under constant surveillance and forced into debt.

It said the women were then forced to shoot pornographic scenes, which were then shared on social media.
