While the exterior design is kept pretty much intact throughout the years, the tech and interior have evolved dramatically, according to Stellantis designer Ralph Gilles. For instance, the Challenger is one of the first vehicles to feature a touchscreen infotainment system.
“It’s just a fun canvas to play with,” Gilles told Automotive News Canada. “I can’t tell you how many hoods we’ve done for that vehicle, and fascia and wheels and all kinds of derivative models in terms of buzz models that have caught on and really have their own subculture that supports them.”
The Challenger is going out with solid sales performances, beating the segment-favorite Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro from time to time. Even during the economic downturns, the nameplate still managed to sustain great sales.
