A HUGE fire has broken out at Gandhi Hospital in the Iranian capital Tehran.

The horrifying footage shows flames erupting and spewing from the windows.

The shocking video shows the blaze erupt from the windows as the fire spreads across the building.

The flames have reportedly engulfed from 12th to 16th floors of the building.

Ashes can be seen falling from the hospital facade while fumes are spreading into the sky.

Head of Gandhi Hospital in Tehran said that the hospital is being evacuated and patients will be transferred to other facilities if necessary.

The fire primarily affected the exterior of the building, according to the spokesperson of fire department.

Several stations of firemen have rushed to the scene with water tankers and ladders.

The fire extinguishing operation is currently underway.

In the clip, several fire trucks can be seen with sirens on as they attempt to put out the flames.

Tehran Fire Department spokesperson Jalal Malaki was quoted as saying the incident began at 7 pm.

He told local media: “Minutes before the occurrence of a fire incident in Gandhi Hospital, located on Gandhi Street, the 125 system was informed.”

Some roads leading to the hospital have also been blocked.

The deputy of capital traffic police operations told IRNA: “Traffic police teams are present on the scene and traffic restrictions are applied in areas leading to this hospital.

“People should avoid unnecessary traffic and gathering around the accident site and its surrounding roads.”

Tehran’s emergency department has been put on alert.

The state media reported that the emergency services have dispatched two ambulance buses, four ambulances and two motorcycle ambulances.
