Fans anticipating the release of Universal Pictures’ “Wolf Man” this Halloween will not be getting any such treat this year. The studio is shifting the release date of Blumhouse’s “Wolf Man” from October 25, 2024, to January 17, 2025. Directed by Leigh Whannel, the movie has seen a three-month premiere delay, Deadline confirmed.
Starring Poor Things’ famed Christopher Abbott in the titular role, the werewolf thriller is the story of a man whose family is stalked by a dangerous predator. Further details on the movie’s plot have not yet been revealed.
Apart from his role as Alfie Blessington in the Academy Award-winning film “Poor Things,” Abbott has also starred in “The Sinner” and Apple TV+’s series “The Crowded Room.”
Initially, Barbie’s Ken, Ryan Gosling, was on board to star in the movie. However, due to the conflict in schedules, he had to drop out, with 38-year-old Christopher Abbott replacing him.
The star-studded cast of the movie includes Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Garner and actor-screenwriter Sam Jaeger. However, their characters have not been disclosed yet. Jason Blum produces the movie, with Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Beatriz Sequeira, Melanie Turner, and Leigh Whannell serving as the executive producers.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures also shared that Blumhouse’s “The Woman in the Yard,” which was originally slated to release in theaters on January 10, 2025, has been removed from the release calendar. It will be re-dated to a later date.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the movie’s storyline has not been revealed. However, it is confirmed that actress Danielle Deadwyler will star in the movie. Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain will serve as producers, with executive producers including Collet-Serra, Deadwyler, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Moran.
While many fans have been disappointed with this news, this delay could actually prove beneficial. More time will guarantee impeccable quality, which could make “Wolf Man” a blockbuster hit.
