Key Takeaways
All-new GMC Terrain AT4 teased with refreshed styling and bolder detailing.
Similar grille design to the upcoming Yukon facelift.
New Terrain will debut sometime in 2024.
GMC has shared its first teaser of the all-new Terrain, the smallest crossover in its lineup of trucks and SUVs. Previewed in AT4 trim, the teaser image showcases the new vehicle’s front fascia. The new headlights boast a C-shaped lighting element and eschew the boomerang-shaped clusters of the outgoing model for a more compact and upmarket design.
The radiator grille, finished in gloss black and enlivened with three prominent chrome strips, features an AT4 badge. The black trim extends beyond the grille, flowing into the headlights and downwards to a faux air intake, which appears to house a fog lamp. More aggressive than before, the squared-off hood boasts prominent power bulges. You’d be forgiven for thinking this was a pickup truck or larger SUV.
Sharper Styling For GMC’s Baby SUV
Elsewhere, we can see additional gloss black trim on the Terrain’s lower bumper. Presumably, this is where GMC will position a functional air intake, made to look larger than it is with the liberal use of gloss black finishes. Speaking of, the side mirror caps also receive the same treatment.

The estimated range has increased to 440 miles, while pricing has fallen below the six-figure mark.
Interestingly, GMC hasn’t borrowed too many styling cues from the upcoming Yukon facelift, which was teased a week ago. However, there are similarities, such as the shape of the radiator grille. When both vehicles are previewed in their entirety, we expect to see more of a resemblance. It’s clear that elements from the 2025 GMC Acadia facelift have made their way to the Terrain. GMC hasn’t shared much with the new teaser, but describes the third-generation’s styling as “bolder” and “more assertive.”
What We Can Expect From The New Terrain
Not much is known about the Terrain at this point, but GMC notes the crossover will be revealed later this year. There’s a chance it will debut alongside the Yukon, but both will presumably arrive once the Acadia reaches dealers in the spring. The current Terrain shares its underpinnings with the Chevrolet Equinox. The Bow-tie brand introduced a new Equinox earlier this year, with bold styling, more occupant space, and an upmarket-looking interior.
Considered more premium than its Chevy-badged sibling, the GMC will likely boast even more premium appointments. As for the powertrain, we aren’t holding out much hope for a new engine. The new Equinox soldiers on with the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 175 horsepower. Customers can choose between front- or all-wheel drive, with the latter being more desirable. AWD models receive an eight-speed automatic transmission (as opposed to a CVT) and an extra 19 lb-ft of torque for a total of 203 lb-ft. We expect the new Terrain to follow suit, but we sincerely hope General Motors takes this opportunity to add a new engine to the lineup, or at least the option of a hybrid or PHEV.
