Key Takeaways

Hispano Suiza teases Carmen Sagrera ahead of June 13 reveal.

New teaser image showcases the new rear wing, pronounced wheel arches, and additional air vents.

Carmen Sagrera launch will incorporate a Japanese legend about an invisible red thread symbolizing unity.

Ahead of the June 13 reveal, Hispano Suiza has released a second teaser for its upcoming Carmen Sagrera, an electric supercar that will take the fight to the Rimac Nevera. Not much is known about the newcomer, except that it will employ a larger 103 kWh battery (up from 80 kWh) and be fitted with a prominent rear wing fashioned out of carbon fiber. This suggests it will be more handling-focused than the standard Carmen and Carmen Boulogne, which are relaxing but very rapid GT cars.

In the latest teaser, we’re treated to a shot of the side profile, giving us another angle of the rear wing, which adds an appealing element to the Carmen’s overly round shape. Aside from that, we can spot several other differences, including more pronounced wheel arches with vents on the front and rear. These are likely functional and will improve airflow, cooling, or both.

Mysterious Red Thread Will Tie Everything Together

Aside from the image, Hispano Suiza speaks of a Japanese legend that says an invisible red thread “unites people destined to be together.” This unseen thread is impervious to damage, stretching, and shrinking but never breaking. The bespoke marque says this red thread will be a leitmotiv (a recurring theme) of the vehicle’s launch in June.

The concept-like styling of this Spanish EV is sure to draw quite a crowd.

“Although they may be separated by distance, time, or circumstances, this thread will always keep them united and will eventually lead them to find each other and finally be together,” says the company. We’re unsure what this has to do with an electric hypercar, but Hispano Suiza references Damia Mateu and Marc Birkgy, the unlikely duo who crossed paths and formed Hispano Suiza in 1904.

The Final Model In The Carmen Lineup

We wouldn’t be surprised if a highlight of the Carmen Sagrera’s exterior and interior is red pinstriping and red stitching for the upholstery. Whatever is coming, the Sagrera is described as the “hypercar that will complete the Carmen range.”

Hispano Suiza’s latest creation will debut at the historic Finca Mas Solers estate in Sant Pere de Ribes, Spain. This is where the original Carmen reveal was due to take place but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sagrera is named after the La Sagrera district, where Hispano Suiza established its first large factory in 1911. We expect more information to drip through in additional teasers. Hispano Suiza hasn’t said whether the Sagrera will receive additional power, but truth be told, the Boulogne’s 1,100 horsepower and 848 lb-ft of torque are more than sufficient.
