If you have your own business then you may already know that employees can and sometimes are the backbone of the company. If you value your employees and all the hard work they do, do you show it? Sometimes bosses forget that employees are human and not robots, they don’t show their appreciation and then wonder why they end up with a high employee churn rate. If you want to show your employees that you care and value them, take a look at the article below to find out how you can show it.

Training & Promotions

At the end of the day nobody wants to be stuck in a dead end job and this is what happens when you don’t offer your employees training or promotions. This can end up with your employees leaving as they want to further their careers and will be able to do this elsewhere. Offering bulk training will save you money and give your employees the skills they need to help you run your business effectively. You could put a clause in your employees contracts if you are worried about them leaving after receiving training. For example, if they leave within twelve months then you will take the cost of the course out of their last salary. Many companies do this so they aren’t wasting money on courses, as they are not cheap.

Being Flexible

As a boss there is nothing better than being flexible and open towards your employees. If they come to you with a problem then try and resolve this for them, they are more likely to stick around if they like you. You might have some parents who need to shift around their working hours to cover childcare, this is a reasonable adjustment that you can expect if you hire parents. You might also want to offer your employees the chance to work a hybrid or fully remote schedule.

Providing Refreshments

If your employees are working long days in the office then it might be nice for them to be met with a nice beverage and refreshment section in the kitchen. You can sign up to something like liquidline where you pay weekly for a beverage or vending machine service. Be aware that you will need to refill these yourself so ensure it all fits into your budget. If you really want to impress your employees, you could give them a token so they get one free snack from the vending machine per week.

Fun Days

Lastly, there is nothing worse than being an employee and working hard every day with no returns. Think about this when you are giving your employees endless tasks and projects. It might be nice to organise a team building day where you chill out and don’t talk about work. Centerparcs is great for this and many organisations arrange to have a day out at one of their settings at least once a year. It gives your employees a chance to find out more about each other and chat about things that aren’t work related. Do a little research and find out more about places you could take your team.
