Emily Gold, 17, a Los Osos High School dancer and America’s Got Talent contestant, has died.
On Friday, September 13, 2024, the San Bernardino Coroner’s office, to a media source, confirmed that she had died from suicide.
In a statement given by California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Rodrigo Jimenez, stated, “Officers from the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga area responded to a pedestrian down in the lanes.”
He later said, “When the officers arrived, they located a 17-year-old, who was struck by at least one other vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210. The female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Officer S. Gonzalez, who is an investigator on the case is asked to be contacted in case of any leads found about the suicide.
Meanwhile, last month, the Southern California teenager wowed the nation alongside Los Osos High School on America’s Got Talent.
After going through multiple auditions, they landed in the series quarterfinals; however, they were eliminated in August.
While they were eliminated, the team’s energy received a standing ovation from Judge Simon Cowell.
Cowell, at that time, said, “It was brilliant. What I loved about this was first of all the energy. I think what I just saw is everything a great school should be doing, which is encouraging talent and friendship.”
She continued, “It reminded me of seeing the High School Musical movie and thinking every kid should go to a school like that.”
On August 13, following her performance, Gold told the media house, People, “When I’m performing, I’m thinking about all the corrections because we get corrections up until five minutes before we go on stage. So to just think about all those so that we apply them is my biggest priority on stage.”
A few days after Gold’s death, Gold’s close ones initiated a GoFundMe to raise money for the Dancer’s family.
The fundraiser read, “With great sadness, we share our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away. As a community let’s come together and support the Gold family in this difficult time. Please know this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses.”
