A Release Window Is Revealed

With the third season being one of the most anticipated shows in recent TV history, the latest news confirms the release window for The White Lotus season 3. Though it was known that 2025 was the target year for the next season, HBO executive Casey Bloys narrowed the window down significantly. Suggesting that The White Lotus season 3 will be gunning for tons of Emmys, Bloys said “Well, all I’ll say now, generally first half of the year, I expect them to be in the Emmy window.” Considering the fact that filming wrapped in August 2024, this seems more than plausible.

The New Season Of The White Lotus Is Official

The White Lotus season 3 was confirmed by HBO in November 2022, only weeks after the second season debut. The speedy renewal isn’t surprising, given the series has performed strongly in the ratings. Viewership for the ending episode of season 2 surpassed the anthology’s previous record, garnering 2.8 million viewers across HBO’s platforms.

Since then, The White Lotus season 3 wrapped filming in August 2024, and has been given a release window of the first half of 2025. According to HBO executive Casey Bloys, the next season is aiming to score big at the Emmys, meaning it will have to arrive in the first half of the year to remain eligible.

An All-New Slate Of Stars

The cast of The White Lotus season 3 has largely been revealed, but the characters are unknown. One returning cast member from season 1 is Natasha Rothwell as Belinda, but she is the only return confirmed thus far. A long list of recognizable names has been attached to The White Lotus season 3, but no character names or descriptions have been provided. Series mainstay Jennifer Coolidge will not be returning after her character, Tanya, died in season 2.

HBO announced in November 2023 that there will be nine main characters in The White Lotus season 3, ranging from ages 18-80, with a further thirteen roles being cast. Those roles include “a patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a few moms, a misfit, and a yoga enthusiast.” It’s yet to be announced who will be playing these characters.

A Spiritual Retreat In Thailand

Though all the details about season 3’s plot haven’t been revealed yet, major aspects of the next installment of The White Lotus are known. The season takes place at the luxury resort chain’s location in Thailand and will feature a large cast of characters from various international backgrounds. Class will once again be put sharply in focus, but as star Carrie Coon teased, will also juxtapose spiritualism with the typical misanthropic materialism of the characters in The White Lotus.

With the full trailer for The White Lotus season 3 still a long way off, HBO released a teaser for its upcoming slate which features a few scenes from season 3. The brief clips reveal the return of Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda as she smiles warmly to greet someone, and is underscored by the voice-over of a character saying “What happens in Thailand, stays in Thailand.”
