Morphing is a key component of the travel system in Throne and Liberty, with a broad selection of Morphs to choose from. These animal forms are available to purchase or unlock via story progression, offering specific sets of skills that can be upgraded. Whether you need to dash, glide, or swim, there’s a Morph for that. But there are other environmental circumstances that might also call for the use of Special Morphs and abilities.
In Throne and Liberty’s world of Solisium, morphing also extends to shapeshifting, though the two bear differences. Shapeshifting with Special Morphs can be likened to the Wild Shape characteristic of the powerful Moon Druid subclass in Baldur’s Gate 3, which grants you a new form that can be used to trick or surpass enemies. However, most of the Morphs you unlock in Throne and Liberty simply present new options to travel by land, air, or sea, each with Growth Points and bonuses to offer.
All Morph Types In Throne And Liberty
Dash, Glide, Or Swim
Throne and Liberty’s Morphs can be divided into three distinct types: dash, glide, and swim. These operate in much the same way as mounts in Diablo 4 and other MMORPGs would, but in this case, you’ll actually be taking on the forms of the Morphs you use. You’ll find your available Dash, Glide, and Swim Morphs listed under the Morphs category in the game’s Character Info menu.
Throne and Liberty’s
Early Access launch is slated for September 26, with its full release following on October 1. Some gameplay details may be subject to change. We’ll provide any necessary updates here nearing the game’s release.
Dash Morphs
Dash Morphs are channeled to travel faster on land. Naturally, this provides you with a more reliable means to reach your destination in less time, but these Morphs also come equipped with a greater ability to jump. Use this skill to reach otherwise inaccessible areas and improve exploration, with the Wild Skoll to start.
Glide Morphs
You can use Glide Morphs to take to the air in Throne and Liberty, starting with the Bald Eagle. Unlike the Pal Gliders in Palworld, gliding is essentially synonymous with flying here. From your character’s base form or another Designated Morph, transform in a high location or mid-fall to take flight.
Swim Morphs
Swim Morphs grant you the ability to, well, swim. When you come across a body of water, you can dive in to explore with improved swim speed. This also comes in handy to reach previously undiscovered areas. You’ll have a Roving Lutrang to start off with as your Designated Morph.
Morph Progression & Bonuses
Unlock New Morphs To Gather Growth Points
Every Morph you unlock nets you Growth Points in Throne and Liberty. Generally, the rarer the species, the more points you’ll earn. This contributes to the overall Growth Level of each Morph type, which operates separately from your own stats. When you accrue enough points, you can use them to level up the Active Effects of your Designated Morphs, reach new milestones, and unlock rewards. The system does come with pros and cons, though, as noted by Grobs on YouTube.
Morphs boast unique stats themselves, granting you a variety of movement bonuses when you transform, like higher speed and acceleration rate. However, keeping your transformation active and using speed boosts costs stamina, posing limitations in combat and lengthy travel. Stat bonuses and stamina costs are dependent on the type of Morph and its Growth Level, so it’s important to unlock new species and consider environmental circumstances when deciding on your Designated Morphs. Of course, aesthetic preferences may also play a role in the decision-making process.
A Morph’s appearance can change according to your character’s hair color. For instance, fire-red hair will give your Morph a red hue. This detail isn’t illustrated in the Morph menu, but it goes into effect with your transformation, so choose your hair color carefully.
As you work to unlock Throne and Liberty’s myriad of Morphs and improve their Growth Levels, you’ll gain ample travel options to choose from. Alongside Special Morphs used to Shapeshift, you can use these abilities to get the upper hand in combat situations and better explore the surrounding world. Solisium awaits.
