A couple who found themselves swimming in a stunning jungle stream were left regretting their decision to dive in.

The pair recorded a YouTube short of their brief but daring dive as a voiceover can be heard explaining: “You better think twice about jumping into random jungle water.”

Their short trip into the body of water has served as a reminder of the dangers found in the depths of the jungle, and the “hidden dangers” people should be aware of should they feel the need to jump into the gorgeous streams of water.

Though the admittedly cool waterfall tunnel proved appealing to the couple, they soon found themselves trying to escape from the waters and were later hospitalised

Content creator Charlie Oliver Bates revealed he had to climb down to the body of water by using a ladder made of tree roots and from there jumped right into the water with partner Aidyn.

But a short while later, the pair were facing off with trouble. Charlie revealed: “As we swam over to the waterfall tunnel, we felt things kinda nibbling on our bodies, and as we made it up to the rocks we both became very itchy.

“A quick Google search showed that we had Swimmer’s Itch, also known as parasites burrowing into our bodies. So we got checked out by medical professionals and fortunately we made a full recovery.”

Members of the public were already certain of not jumping into random bodies of water but Charlie’s video had dozens share their horror stories relating to death and disaster in eerie pools of water.

One user wrote: “Yeah I live in Australia and I would never just jump into a random body of water, there’s pretty much always at least 1 thing in there that can kill you.”

Another warned: “Rule of thumb.. if you don’t see other tourists swimming.. don’t be the first. Even seeing locals swimming is not an indication of safe water… gotta be tourists.
