The family of a woman who died in a crash that also claimed the lives of four horses have described the late mum as “the glue that kept us all together”.

Lesley McTear, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision involving a Mercedes A-Class car and MAN box van in Renfrewshire at around 3.10am last Monday.

The incident occurred on the A737 near Howwood, with Police Scotland also receiving reports of six horses running loose on the road around the same time.

Ms McTear, from Dreghorn in North Ayrshire, was a passenger in the Mercedes.

In a statement released through the force, her family said: “Lesley was a loving wife, mother, grandma and daughter-in-law.

“As a family, we are deeply saddened by the events that have caused such a void in our family.

“Lesley was the glue that kept us all together and anyone who was lucky enough to know Lesley was showered by her unconditional love.”
