Hailey Bieber Breaks Fall Hair Color Traditions With New Cashmere Blonde Lob

Hailey Bieber isn’t letting societal norms stop her from going blonde. Okay, that’s probably a bit overdramatic, but the 27-year-old model did break a yearly fall beauty tradition.

Just as spring typically marks an uptick in blonde hair transformations, the transition to pumpkin spice latte season tends to inspire the opposite. Rich brunette shades make their way back into trend reports as diehard blondes start embracing cooler, cozier tones around mid-September. Just look at Gigi Hadid, who recently went a slightly darker shade of blonde than she’s been sporting throughout the summer.

However, some staunch brunettes are choosing to go blonde this fall, including celebs like Kendall Jenner and, most recently, Hailey Bieber. After sticking with her usual brunette tone for the duration of her pregnancy, the new mom is shaking up her look.

On September 28, Bieber revealed she went “lighter for fall” with a dimensional blonde lob that features a deeper root with a dimensional range of soft blonde babylights. She shared the new look with a casual selfie on Instagram Stories, wearing very minimal makeup and sporting a pair of tortious shell glasses.

Because her roots skew a bit more brunette than blonde, one could describe the look as “cashmere bronde.” For those who haven’t heard, “cashmere blonde” has been a popular fall-winter blonde shade for a couple years now, alongside its brunette counterpart, “expensive brunette.”

London hair colorist Gemma Smidmore has described cashmere blonde as a “a lightweight, luxurious blonde” that’s achieved “blending cool and warm tones into your hair with super-fine, delicate, little woven lights.” The best part, Smidmore says, is that “regrowth is so forgiving when it’s growing out because it’s been woven so finely when it’s created.”

Sounds like Hailey Bieber’s new tone to me! And while I successfully avoided blonde peer pressure all summer, it’s looking like I might, too, be going lighter for fall.
