A RYANAIR flight has been abandoned after an explosion left the wing of a plane on fire.

All 184 passengers onboard were forces to evacuate the aircraft as it sat smoking on the runway in Italy this morning.

No one was injured during the failed takeoff from the Aeroporti di Puglia airport in Brindisi.

The flight was due to head off to Turin at around 8:35am when those onboard noticed a “strong flame” from underneath the wing of the Boeing 737.

Initial reports say the fire was sparked from an issue with the engine.

Passengers and the six crew were escorted off on an inflatable slide after “moments of fear”, report Correire Della Sera.

The airport was closed as firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the blaze.

Flights in and out of the airport were temporarily suspended as the authorities investigated the cause of the fire.

This is the latest incident to take place on a Boeing manufactured jet after a packed plane suffered a nightmare take-off in July when it’s tail scraped along the runway.

The Latam 777-300 was left with significant damage after the back end failed to rise at Milan airport – leaving a thick cloud of smoke and falling debris behind it.

The passenger jet, scheduled to head off to Sao Paulo, Brazil, was forced to return to Italy due to the mangled tail as security ordered an immediate inspection.

It spent around 75 minutes looping around the Milan Malpensa Airport nine times, data from FlightRadar showed.
