Debuting in 2020, Upload was created by Greg Daniels, one of the minds behind Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill. The show focuses on Nathan (Robbie Amell), a computer engineer who dies in a tragic accident and has his consciousness uploaded to a virtual afterlife.

The basic premise was intriguing enough to get viewers hooked, and Upload season 4 will continue a deep and nuanced plot. Two Nathans exist in the third season, and a bizarre love quartet has emerged between the two versions of himself, ex-partner Ingrid (Allegra Edwards), and his former handler in the afterlife Nora (Andy Allo). Though there has been little news throughout most of 2024, the latest update confirms a new cast member has joined Upload‘s fourth and final season. As reported first by Deadline, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 star Lee Majdoub has been tapped to play an as-yet-unnamed character in the next season, though he will be a recurring figure in the final outing. It’s unclear if more new characters will be added, but there will likely be a larger ensemble for the show’s last hurrah.

Upload season 4 was a confident possibility after its continued success in season 3, but it took until March 2024 for Prime Video to renew the show for its fourth and final season. Who Will Return?

The cast of Upload season 4 will feature many returning names and faces from the first three seasons. Amell is joined by Andy Allo as Nora, the love interest of the ‘real’ Nathan. Allegra Edwards plays Ingrid, Nathan’s former partner who is now dating a copy of his consciousness in Lakeview. Both are expected to reprise their roles in the Upload season 4 cast.

Though the full scope of the final season’s cast isn’t known yet, season 4 has added newcomer Lee Majdoub in an as-yet-undisclosed role. While details of Majdoub’s role are being kept under wraps for now, it has been confirmed that the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 star will play a recurring character.

The Series Will Get A Proper Ending In Season 4

Though it may come as a disappointment to fans of the series, Upload will be calling it quits after season 4. Though that is not happy news, it at least guarantees that the show will get a proper ending after all. In a statement about the show’s fourth season, creator Greg Daniels said: “When I conceived Upload many years ago, I had the story arced out over four seasons, so I am thrilled to make the ending the fans deserve and the characters and creative team have been working towards.” Though the show is going out, it is going to exit on its own terms.

A Shocking Final Season Is Expected

The cliffhanger ending of Upload season 3 sets the fourth and final season and leaves a lot left to be explored. Throughout the season, Nathan struggles with a duplicate of himself that begins a strange relationship with Ingrid. Meanwhile, the real Nathan began a relationship with Nora which was jeopardized by the presence of his copy. By the end of the season, both couples came together but the joy was short-lived as Nathan was arrested.

Nathan’s captivity will likely be the bulk of the plot of season 4, and it offers an opportunity for the show to go out on a high note. Having found the love he always wanted, Nathan will have to fight for his freedom while also fighting to maintain his fragile new relationship.
