A manhunt is underway after a dad was attacked and killed while walking back from his late father’s house on his own.

David Graham, 38, is believed to have suffered serious neck injuries in a residential area of Uddingston, Lanarkshire, on Sunday evening.

Witnesses tried to help him moments after the attack using towels to try and stem the blood flow

Mr Graham, who was married with children, was later taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but was pronounced dead on arrival by medics.

Police said they are treating his death as murder and appealed for witnesses.

One friend, who did not give their name, told The Sun: “Nobody can believe what has happened.

‘David was a devoted family man – one of life’s good guys.

‘This senseless murder has left his entire family and friends completely bereft.

‘We can’t get our heads around it and we probably never will.’

Detectives are interested in a silver car which was seen parked near the scene before it drove off.

Sources have revealed officers have been visiting businesses in the area asking to examine security footage as they step up their inquires.

One said: ‘Police have been asking to see any CCTV footage and asking questions. They have been to a number of locations as they try and piece together what happened.

‘The killing has stunned the area and rumours are getting wild as to what’s been behind it.’

Another said: ‘Police have been speaking to people and at least one has been told it was a targeted attack.’

Forensic officers in white suits were also seen combing the area for clues into the death.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said: ‘A dedicated team of officers are working to get them answers and identify those responsible.

‘We have already spoken to a number of people who came to Mr Graham’s aid until the ambulance arrived and I would like to thank them for their assistance.

‘However, I am still keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time, and may have seen or heard anything suspicious. Please get in touch with officers. We would also urge any motorists with dashcams who were in General’s Gate or Old Glasgow Road areas on Sunday night to check your footage.

‘You may have captured something which could be of significance to our investigation.’
