Check your change as you might be sitting on a huge fortune.

Rare coins are taking the collecting world by storm and you could be unknowingly sitting on a goldmine. Previously, a rare penny with a “unique” feature fetched £140,000 at auction.

It is believed the 1933 predecimal penny from the UK could wind up in your grandad’s old coin collection so you better get looking this instance.

Now another TikTok user, known as @the. coin.seeker, who commands a following of over 2,000, pointed out two specific errors on a £2 coin that might make it worth an astonishing £1,000.

They explained: “There are two errors with the technology £2 coin. The first one is where you can see it’s brass on the outside in colour, silver in the middle. Some of the blanks accidentally slipped into the minting process and they were minted like this.”

“But they were all brass in colour so just one solid colour and it could be worth £1,000,” they continued. “The other one there is a rotation error by 45 degrees because of the dye slipping during the minting process.”

The expert highlighted while gesturing towards the coin, explaining this would misplace the Queen’s head and shuffle the coin’s date to the bottom – rare quirks that could command thousands.

Meanwhile, the £2 technology coin, first minted in 1997, boasts a unique bi-metallic design – a first in the history of British coinage. The concentric circles were designed by Bruce Rushin and have been featured on £2 coins every year since 1997.

A staggering 416 million of these coins were released in the 90s, with the coin being issued annually until 2015, as per Change Checker.

This makes the odds of stumbling upon a rare variant quite slim, but given the vast mintage, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

The video garnered hundreds of likes and comments since it was posted. One viewer commented: “I have one from 2011.”

Another responded with a string of grinning emojis.
