An unremarkable stretch of grass verge near a primary school’s gates is at the centre of an apparent war on parents parking on it.

Dog poo, broken glass and rows of upturned nails have been left along the section of roadside in what appears to be a bid to stop mums and dads parking there.

Parents fear alleged saboteurs in the village of Creeting St Mary, Suffolk, are targeting their vehicles in what’s been dubbed Britain’s most bitter school run.

Stephanie Wilson, 41, said it wasn’t as if someone had just dropped some nails, adding they are stood up and embedded in the grass.

She told The Times people have parked there a number of times only to realise later on they have got punctures.

Andy Luca, 53, said three of his tyres were punctured a couple of weeks ago and another six months before that.

Parish council clerk, Jennie Blackburn, told the publication the availability of parking has been an issue for a while, with parents advised to instead park by the village hall.

Bookkeeper, Val Brittain, 50, said: “I have seen a handul of dead mice there, dog poo constantly, really big, shattered glass bottles and now nails.”

John Andrews, 62, lives in a property near the verge with his wife, Eleanor, 67. He told The Times claims of sabotage formed part of a plot devised by parents annoyed with locals complaining about their parking.

He said his water meter had been broken twice by people parking on top of it, adding his wife has complained to the school.

Mr Andrews said builders working on an extension on his home haven’t had punctures, adding he too had had a couple of punctures.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police confirmed the force last received reports of criminal damage on September 17 and 26.

They added that an investigation is ongoing and there had been no reports of any injuries as a result of the alleged incidents.
