Body found in hunt for missing mum Victoria Taylor last seen three weeks ago

A body has been found in the search for a missing mum last seen alive nearly a month ago.

Victoria Taylor, 34, was last seen on September 30 at her home in Malton, North Yorkshire, which she shared with her fiancé and two-year-old daughter.

North Yorkshire Police have now confirmed that a body was found in the River Derwent at 11.45am on Tuesday. The body is yet to be formally identified but police say they have informed the family and are offering them support from specialist officers.

Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox said the family are “understandably distressed.”

He continued: “Victoria’s family have again asked us to express their thanks to all of those who have supported police and other emergency services in our efforts to locate Victoria.”

On the day that Ms Taylor vanished, she was pictured on CCTV going to a playground close to the river where the body has now been found.

The body was found close to where Ms Taylor’s belongings were discovered, police added.

River searches were carried out when Ms Taylor was first reported missing on October 1.

Police said there was a “significant possibility” she had gone into the water just a week after the search started.

Ms Taylor’s sisters Emma and Heidi said: “The local community is amazing, from putting up posters to the daily walks to search for Vixx.

“We would like to thank the special people, you know who you are.”

They added: “The wider community on the Facebook page with over 10,000 people sharing Vixx’s information and sending support has given us comfort.”

A tribute was also posted by the Derwent Arms pub in Malton.

They said: “With the sad news to hit the local community within the last hour we would like to extend our deepest thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Vixx – Victoria Taylor.

“We at the Derwent Arms have supported the local community during the search for her and will continue to support people where possible.”
