Top NBA DFS picks for Wednesday, October 23
For Wednesday, one of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks is rostering Bucks forward/center Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is listed at $11,000 on DraftKings and $11,600 on FanDuel. Antetokounmpo is coming off back-to-back seasons averaging more than 30 points and 11 rebounds per game as one of the most dominant players in the league. He’s finished top five in NBA MVP voting in each of the last six seasons, including winning two MVP awards. The 29-year-old is probable for Wednesday as he deals with right patella tendinitis that may cause him to rest some more games this season, but the season-opener is not one he’ll want to miss.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 28.2 points and 13 rebounds over his last five season openers as he’s entering with plenty of rest and energy from the offseason. The Bucks open up against the 76ers for the third straight season, but the 76ers will be without Joel Embiid (knee) and Paul George (knee). Antetokounmpo will have plenty of opportunities to dominate and McClure expects a strong start to the season for the eight-time All-Star.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski ($6,000 on DraftKings and $5,200 on FanDuel). The No. 19 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft averaged 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists over 74 games last season. He had an uptick to 9.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 28 starts last season and given Thompson’s signing with the Mavericks and the Warriors potentially wanting to introduce some of their role-player signings from off the bench, Podziemski is expected to be in the starting lineup on Wednesday.
Podziemski averaged 19.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore at Santa Clara before declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft. He’s continuing to be one of the better rebounding guards in the NBA as despite his 6-foot-4 height, he knows how to position his body to attack the glass. Podziemski had at least seven rebounds in each of his final three games last season and with the Warriors expected to play many smaller lineups this season, he could have ample rebounding opportunities.
