Schoolgirl, 12, dies suddenly at home as school pays heartbreaking tribute

A “much-loved and cherished” 12-year-old girl has suddenly died at her home in Wales as tributes pour in following her tragic death.

Honey French died at an address in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, on Saturday, while police rushed to the scene shortly before 10,30am.

No other details have been released regarding Honey’s death, but police say it is not being treated as suspicious.

A fundraiser has been launched to support Honey’s family.

Honey attended Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi VA in St David’s. The school posted a hertbreaking statement saying: “It is with great sadness that we announce that one of our pupils passed away unexpectedly at the weekend.

“Honey French was much-loved and cherished by all who knew her and was a valued member of our school community here at Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi VA. She was a keen performer and writer who gave generously of her humour, time, and talents to support our school family and wider community – and she will be very much missed.

“Our love, thoughts, and prayers go out to her family at this sad time. We now ask people to be mindful of the family’s need to grieve in private.”

Meanwhile, The Proud of Milford Haven Facebook page said: “Our town is in mourning for a young lady loved by so many, please light a candle for the French family and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. May Honey’s light continue to shine bright.”

Milford Haven Business Circle also paid tribute, dding: “Milford Haven is grieving the loss of Honey French, a cherished 12-year-old who passed away on Saturday. Honey’s radiant personality and infectious laughter brightened the lives of everyone she touched. Her absence will be deeply felt by our community.

“Those of us at Milford Haven Business Circle would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Honey’s family and friends during this time of profound sorrow. Let’s come together to support one another and honour Honey’s memory. By lighting candles we symbolise her enduring spirit and the unwavering love she brought to the world. Honey’s light will forever shine brightly, guiding us through the darkness.”

The date for an inquest into Honey’s death is yet to be confirmed.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We received a call from the ambulance service requesting assistance at an address in Milford Haven at 10.25am on Saturday, October 19. Sadly a 12-year-old died a short time later. Our thoughts are with her family at this time, and support has been offered from specialist officers. Officers have also been available at the child’s school today for friends who need support. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
