The mother of a woman found dead in a car boot in east London has said she wants ‘justice’ for her daughter.

Harshita Brella, 24, is believed by police to have been murdered by her husband Pankaj Lamba this month.

Her body was found Thursday inside a vehicle in Ilford, 100 miles from her home in Corby, Northamptonshire, a day after she was reported missing.

Mr Lamba is not believed to be in the UK, with a manhunt launched over the weekend.

Speaking from Delhi, India, mum Sudesh Kumari told the BBC: ‘I want my son-in-law to be brought to justice and I want my daughter’s body brought home.’

Detectives suspect Mr Lamba murdered Ms Brella and transported her body by car before fleeing the country.

Ms Brella moved to the UK in April after an arranged marriage with Mr Lamba in August last year, her sister Sonia Dabas told the broadcaster.

Ms Dabas described how Ms Brella ‘didn’t live a very happy life in London’.

‘She struggled a lot because of her husband,’ she said, adding that her sister phoned her father in India to say she had run away.

‘She said he was hitting her and she escaped. She ran out on the streets, he chased after her and hit her there as well,’ Ms Dabas said.

‘There was a local who saw this and asked what happened which is why he left her. Harshita called someone she knew who came to pick her up.’

Neighbours described hearing an ‘angry’ argument coming from inside Ms Brella’s house the night she went missing.

Ms Brella was the subject of a Domestic Violence Protection Order, according to Northamptonshire Telegraph.

In September, a court order had been put in place protecting her from being contacted by a man, whose name has not been released.

The order, issued at Northampton Magistrates Court, lasted for 28 days and banned the man from visiting her workplace.
