Grimes Claims She Didn’t See 1 Kid for Months Amid Elon Custody Battle

Grimes is making claims about ex Elon Musk as their custody battle continues.

“Having babies rips you apart and puts you back together,” Grimes, 36, shared in a lengthy statement via X earlier this month. “Babies are ten thousand philosophy classes of s— you can only learn from that experience.”

The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, shares three kids — son X Æ A-Xii, 4, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and son Techno Mechanicus, 2 — with Musk, 53, from whom she split in 2022.

“Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights having my instagram posts and modeling used as reasons I shouldn’t have my kids and fighting and detaching from the love of my life as he becomes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/ strategy experience), all the while I didn’t see one of my babies for 5 months,” her social media post continued.

Grimes noted that “this is only what can be said publicly,” hinting that there’s more going on behind-the-scenes with Musk, who is the richest person in the world and was recently named the cohead of President-Elect Donald Trump‘s Department of Government Efficiency. The musician insisted that she’s “never been better” despite all the hardships.

“Most of my experience these last years should remain behind closed doors,” she added. “Poetry and pure raw emotion are pouring out of my soul at a rate I’ve never known, and Im improving deeply as a producer past the technical and back to the art after now knowing my craft so much better.”

The avant-garde pop star explained that she’s working with “creative partners I’ve always wanted” and is making the art that she needs to at the moment.

“It might be upsetting and provocative to many, but it’s real and the people who will feel me will feel me,” Grimes continued. “All that said I’m grateful for every bullet I caught. Cuz I feel on top of the world right now. And everything that used to give me anxiety feels like child’s play after all this.”

Grimes’ allegations come more than a year after she sued Musk for parental rights in September 2023. Us confirmed at the time that Grimes filed “petition to establish parental relationship” in the Superior Court of Francisco. The documents are sealed so further details were not revealed.

Grimes and Musk were together for four years before their 2022 split. Other than the three kids they share, Musk is also a father to nine other children from other relationships.
