A young woman killed a man and wounded a woman in two ‘out of the blue’ stabbing attacks, the Old Bailey has heard.

Fatima Umar, 21, is charged with the murder of 46-year-old Alan Geary and the attempted murder of a 56-year-old woman, who has not been named.

Mr Geary was attacked in Navenby Walk in Bow, east London, shortly after midnight on Saturday, November 23.

He was rushed to hospital but died there from his injuries.

The female victim was stabbed at another address in Navenby Walk just before 3am.

Scotland Yard said her condition was stable and she has since been released from hospital.

Umar, of Navenby Walk, was arrested and charged with both attacks.

On Wednesday, she was said to be in an unfit state to attend her first appearance in the crown court.

Judge Sarah Whitehouse KC said: ‘The facts, on the face of it, appear to be attacks which were out of the blue for no apparent reason that anyone can see on two separate occasions.’

She set a plea hearing for February 12 and a provisional trial of up to three weeks from September 15.

Umar, who is currently in Bronzefield Prison, was remanded into custody.
