Student, 19, made desperate call from unknown number before she vanished

A 19-year-old student made a distressing call from an unknown number before vanishing several weeks ago, leaving her family frantic with worry. Lilyanne Hook, who had recently moved to London from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, rang her parents to report that her phone had been stolen, but since then, she has disappeared, sparking growing concerns for her well-being.

Her father, Mark, described the ordeal as “a living nightmare” as the family joins the search efforts in and around Peckham, southeast London. Mark revealed that Lilyanne’s disappearance is “very out of character” for the outgoing and independent young woman.

In an interview with Metro, Mark shared: “She’s a very outgoing and independent young lady, but the longest we have ever gone without speaking to her before was two days.” He added, “We can’t think why she would not want any contact, but we just want to know she is okay. She rang us from an unknown number to let us know her phone had been snatched, and we’ve been worried ever since,” reports the Mirror.

The worrying phone call took place on November 11, a day after Lilyanne was last seen leaving her flat in Lewisham, southeast London. The police are currently investigating in both Lewisham and nearby Peckham.

Mark mentioned that Lilyanne has her mother’s number memorized and has previously called her from friends’ phones. Although she informed her parents about the stolen phone on November 11, she briefly called her mother again from another unknown number a few days later, but the call ended abruptly.

Lilyanne, who turns 20 on December 21, typically celebrates her birthday with her father, mother, and sister. However, the Metropolitan Police have yet to locate the young woman, despite extensive CCTV analysis.

In an interview with the Independent, Mark expressed: “It’s been a living nightmare. Someone, somewhere knows where my daughter is… I just need to be strong in case my little baby needs me. It’s very out of character for her. The longest time without speaking to me or her mum is about three days.”

The Met issued a plea on social media: “Can you help us find 19-year-old Lilyanne who is missing from Lewisham? She is about 5 ft 1, of slim build, with long brown wavy hair and a nose piercing on both sides.”
