Barclays issues full list of branch closures in 2025

Barclays Bank closures are set to continue in 2025 with the high street bank preparing to shut down at least half a dozen branches around the UK.

Last year, Barclays Bank announced the closures of at least 77 branches over this year and during 2025, this was in addition to the 157 branches it closed in 2023.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “A decision to to close a branch is never easy and we appreciate it might not be welcome news, but we’ll make sure you still have access to our banking services.”

Barclays said banking customers can use the Barclays app and or go online while those with a personal or business account can also use any Post Office to withdraw and pay in cash, pay in cheques and check your balance.

The bank said customers who wanted to withdraw cash and check their balance can do so using LINK cash machines.

The  number of bank branches that have shut since 2015 has now topped 6,000 and, by the end of this year, 33 parliamentary constituencies – including two in London – will not have a single branch.

In September experts at Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert (MSE) said at least 292 bank branches shut their doors this year and next across three major banks.

Almost 300 banks have already closed so far this year and, by the end of 2024, a staggering 415 branches may be lost. Among them, 124 closures will leave the communities they served with no remaining branches of any bank, according to a stark Mirror report.

MSE claims that 19 more Lloyds branches and four more Bank of Scotland branches (total of 45) will be inlcuded in the next wave of closures between 2024 and 2025. Around 32 Halifax branches will be included in this too, as part of a whopping 119 shutting.

The experts explained: “If you no longer want to stay with Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland, you might want to consider switching to a bank that does have a local branch nearby – though bear in mind there’s no guarantee that too won’t close.”
