Boxing Day opening times for UK stores from Ikea to Boots, M&S, Argos or Primark

Between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day retailers will operate reduced hours, with some of the UK’s larger stores closing on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

High street stores and supermarkets will want to make sure their staff have some time off over the two bank holidays so for many stores the shutters will be down on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Marks and Spencer, John Lewis and Waitrose will be closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, although online shopping will be available, M&S has already started discounting some of its clothes and homeware ranges.

M&S stores will be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. During December 27 to 30 stores will be open 8 am–8 pm and 8am to 7pm on New Year’s Eve.

Waitrose

Waitrose stores will be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day with normal opening hours between 27 and 30 December. On New Year’s Eve stores will be open 8am to 6pm.

Co-op

Most Co-op stores will be open during the period beween Christmas and New Year with opening hours of 9 am to 7 pm on Boxing Day and normal hours 27 to 30 December. New Year’s Eve opening hours are 7am to 8pm while on New Year’s Day stores will be open 9 am to 8 pm.

B&M

Stores are open on Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day between 8 am and 6 pm. Normal open hours will be  operating between December 27 and 30.

John Lewis

The department store is closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day with opening hours of 9am to 8pm between December 27 and 30 and 9am to 5pm on New Year’s Eve.

Primark

The clothing store will be open Boxing Day between 8 am–6 pm with normal hours between December 27 and 30. New Year’s Eve stores will be open 8 am to 6 pm. On New Year’s Day Primark stores will be closed.

Argos

The catalogue-based retailer will be open Boxing Day 10 am to 5pm with normal hours between 27 and 30 December. New Year’s Eve opening hours are 9 am to 5 pm and New Year’s Day opening hours are 10 am to 4 pm.

Boots

Boots stores are open on Boxing Day from 10 am to 4 pm with normal opening hours between December 27 and 30. On New Year’s Eve Boots will be open 9 am to 5 pm and on New Year’s Day Boots is open 10 am to 5 pm

Next

Next stores are open on Boxing Day from 6 am to 6 pm. Next will have normal opening hours between December 27 and 30. On New Year’s Eve Next stores will be open 9 am to 5 pm and on 10 am to 5 pm on New Year’s Day

IKEA

IKEA is open on Boxing Day from 10 am to 8 pm and from 10am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
