Gwyneth Paltrow is leaving 2024 in the past going into the new year.
Taking to her Instagram on Sunday, December 29, the 52-year-old actress compiled a list of everything she “let go of” over the course of the year.
“This year I have let go of … the phase of life where everyone is always under one roof, our home, some very cherished colleagues, a dog, Los Angeles,” Paltrow wrote before adding more entries, which included letting go of “some people who were not right for me, the idea that I can correct misperceptions [and] believing self-limiting beliefs.”
While Paltrow admitted that she is “still working on” dismantling such limiting beliefs, she also has a lengthy list of goals for the upcoming year.
“In 2025, I would like to index freedom and expansion, feel better, crush it at work,” the Goop founder noted. “[Also to] continue to be able to have tough conversations, continuously reassess everything, look at things in a new way [and] surprise myself.”
In her post’s caption, Paltrow noted that all of the aforementioned topics taught her “very strong lessons.”
“I had a bunch of goodbyes this year; I had some revelations that led to the ends of things,” she said, citing her revelations as a result of a recent numerology reading. “The numerologist contextualized all of this for me, but this year was about learning to understand that it was a year of endings and that sometimes those endings have been really painful and have come with big changes and recalibrations.”
Paltrow concluded, “I’ve learned to loosen my grip on things and deeply learn to let go. And also to understand that everything is always happening for your highest good, even if it’s super uncomfortable.”
Throughout 2024, Paltrow navigated changing dynamics within her Goop business and her family. It was also the year that she became an empty nester when son Moses, 18, went off to Brown University to start his college career. (Paltrow shares Moses and his older sister, Apple, with ex-husband Chris Martin. Apple, 20, studies at Vanderbilt University.)
“It’s been a major transition. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it would be hard because Apple and I are so close and were together all the time,” Paltrow previously told Us Weekly in October 2022. “But I had no idea. It was like the worst heartbreak I’ve ever [felt]. I felt like the love of my life broke up with me for weeks. It was terrible.”
The Oscar winner added at the time, “Now, I’m getting more used to it and it also helps to see her happy and well-adjusted. That makes a huge difference. And she just came home for October break, so that was good. I’ll see her for Thanksgiving.”
Paltrow, who married Brad Falchuk in 2018, reunited with both kids last month at Paris’ Le Bal Des Débutantes when Apple made her society debut. They then celebrated Christmas and Hanukkah as a family earlier this week.
