Noel Gallagher has joined supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos for a new single, set to release on 19 January.
‘Domino Bones (Gets Dangerous)’ is the upcoming single from supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos, comprising multiple other rockers from England’s north-west. Led by the Happy Mondays’ beloved duo Shaun Ryder and Bez alongside drummer Zak Starkey and former-Oasis bassist Andy Bell.
Oasis guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher has now joined the group for the new single which will be released at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. It’s also up for sale online in red or blue vinyl.
While Mantra of the Cosmos have two shows booked for the Cavern Club on 19 January as well, Gallagher has not confirmed his attendance.
“Mantra Of The Cosmos is like Dylan, Dali and Ginsberg on a rocket ship to the moon to have it with the Clangers,” Gallagher said of the supergroup.
‘Domino Bones’ is a reference to Bez’s first band and the six-minute song features Gallagher on vocal duties for the chorus as Ryder takes on the verses.
The group is already full of Oasis heritage. Bell was the bassist for the group from 1999 to their break up in 2009. He joined after establishing himself as one of the two main guitarists for Ride. Post-break up, Bell performed with Liam Gallagher’s solo project Beady Eye until its dissolution in 2014.
Additionally, Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey is part of the line-up on drums. Taking after his father, Starkey has performed with The Who and Oasis, featuring on tracks for albums ‘Don’t Believe the Truth’ and ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.
“It’s not every day that the greatest songwriter of my generation – not to mention Shaun, the greatest beat poet of our times – sends a tune to me, and I was in a daze for a bit cos it’s not something you want to fuck up! It came together great – everyone digs it!” Starky said of Gallagher joining.
The Cavern Club is a notable venue for its heritage as one of the key spots that The Beatles played at in their early years, before and after their time in Hamburg. Starkey commented on the providence playing there: “Can’t believe I’ve never even been there. There’s a great deal of family heritage at the Cavern aside from the Beatles my parents courted there… who knows I may have even been conceived there!”
Last year, Noel and Liam Gallagher confirmed they would reunite as Oasis for a new tour in 2025.
The group will play 17 shows across across Ireland and the UK in July and August before travelling across North America, Asia, Australia, and South America in a world tour. Including two extra dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, Oasis’s 41 show tour will kick off in Cardiff, Wales on 4 July.
