Back in 2020, it was reported that ViacomCBS and Younger’s creator had partnered to develop a show centered on Hilary Duff’s character, Kelsey. A few months after Younger premiered its final season, while Duff was working on How I Met Your Father, she told Cosmopolitan that the spinoff series was on “hold for now,” as Darren Star was “really busy with Emily in Paris.” The star clarified, however, that she’d be “more excited to do a movie for Younger.”​​​​​​​

Since then, Duff has suffered two major disappointments, first with the Lizzie McGuire reboot being dropped for creative differences, and most recently with How I Met Your Father’s cancelation. As she’s not working on any new projects, now would seem like the perfect chance for Duff to return to her popular Younger character and follow up on Kelsey’s major company deal in LA. Whether the spinoff happens or not, Younger has seven great seasons available on Netflix and is the perfect replacement after How I Met Your Father.
