Princess Kate Middleton took a ski trip with her family before announcing her cancer is in remission, The Mail on Sunday reports.
Middleton, 43, and Prince William, 42, traveled from their home in the U.K. to an undisclosed location in the Alps shortly after Christmas, according to a report published by the outlet on Sunday, January 19.
The couple and their three children — Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — were seen enjoying hot drinks at a mountaintop restaurant. They were reportedly joined on the trip by the Princess of Wales’ brother, James Middleton, according to the outlet.
James posted photos of himself, his family, and dogs skiing at an undisclosed location to Instagram on January 9.
“We started the New Year with an adventure into the mountains,” he wrote in part of the caption. “We were lucky enough to be engulfed by blue skies and cold crisp air.”
A member of restaurant staff told The Mail on Sunday that the royals “looked like a normal English family, and a lot of people didn’t recognize them.”
The staff member added that the Wales family had been coming to the restaurant “for years.”
Skiing is one of the royal family’s favorite activities. While growing up, William and Prince Harry, 40, were often photographed skiing with their parents, King Charles, 76, and the late Princess Diana.
It’s a tradition William has followed with his own children. In April 2022, Us Weekly reported that William and Middleton took their children to Courchevel, France, for a family skiing vacation.
“During the pandemic, George begged William to take him skiing once everything reopened and his dad made it happen,” a source told Us at the time.
The family’s most recent vacation is said to have come several weeks before Middleton announced her cancer is officially in remission.
After sharing in September that she had completed chemotherapy, Middleton revealed earlier this month that she was in remission.
“It is a relief to now be in remission,” Middleton wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday, January 14. “And I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
“I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support,” she continued.
In the same post, Middleton revealed that she had become joint patron of The Royal Marsden, the hospital where she received cancer treatment throughout 2024.
“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” she wrote.
Kensington Palace declined to comment when contacted by Us Weekly.
