Mullally will play the role of Lori Milsap, a family friend of the Gemstones who used to be a collaborative songwriter with the late Aimee-Leigh. Meanwhile, Scott will play Lori’s son, Corey Milsap, who grew up alongside the Gemstone kids.

One direction of the story is that Gideon will start to work on his journey into the ministry with his grandfather Eli, which might not sit well with Jesse. The other big storyline is with Keefe and Kelvin. The parents of the kids in his youth ministries already have problems with Keefe, and the idea of a same-sex relationship is not likely to go down well with some members of the church.

There is also the idea that Peter, after leading a militia of religious terrorists through most of the season, had his redemptive moment in the end when he got the explosives out of the church and saved everyone. Whether he deserves redemption in The Righteous Gemstones season 4 is another story. His terrorists are on their own and still plan to shake up the foundation, but will Peter stay on the straight and narrow?
