The five 164ft supports had been put in place by a crane and the deck of the road was being put in place before the bridge collapsed at 9:49 am killing four and injuring six others.

Dashcam footage from a vehicle on the road below the bridge showed the horror moment in full detail.

The vehicle, just seconds away from being under the bridge was moving away from the construction site when the newly laid connecting pieces instantly plummeted to the ground below.

With the mangled wreckage on the ground in a cloud of dust, all that was left of the bridge were the supports.

Officials later revealed that a group of 10 workers were thrown off either side of the bridge as it fell.

The other two fatalities were South Korean nationals, officials said.

In a press conference, Ko said: “They were working to install a deck on the bridge.

“All of the 10 were up on the deck … and fell from both sides when it collapsed.”

Acting President Choi Sang-mok called for the mobilisation of all available personnel and resources to find those who were injured while also ensuring the safety of the site.
