Imagine this. You’re stuck in a submarine, carrying illegal cargo, and danger is all around, and someone is chasing you. This is the story of Subversion, a new action movie starring Chris Hemsworth and Lily James.

In this story, Chris plays a former naval commander who had a bright future ahead of him. But things take a dark turn when a dangerous cartel forces him to take command of a submarine filled with illegal goods. The director is Patrick Vollrath. He made 7500, a hijack thriller set inside a plane. He received an Oscar nomination for Everything Will Be Okay.

Subversion is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who has also given some hits like Transformers, Salt, and G.I. Joe. He is working with Amazon MGM Studios to bring Subversion to theaters. 

Chris Hemsworth and Lily James share the screen for the very first time, bringing fresh chemistry to this thrilling new pairing. It’s also their first project with Patrick Vollrath. Production will start in Australia, and the movie is set to release on December 18, 2026.
